Diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted disease

The skin and venereal disease polyclinic of the North Estonia Medical Centre (registration desk No. 10) offers testing for the following sexually transmitted diseases (STDs):

• urogenital chlamydia (Chlamydia trachomatis)
• gonorrhoea (Neisseria gonorrhoeae)
• mycoplasma (Mycoplasma genitalium)
• ureaplasma (Ureaplasma urealyticum)
• trichomoniasis (Trichomonas vaginalis)
• syphilis (Treponema pallidum)
• HIV (human immunodeficiency virus)
• herpesviruses (HSV1, HSV2)
• HPV (human papillomavirus)
• hepatitis B and hepatitis C (HBsAg, HCV Ab)

Testing for STDs should be carried out if:

• you have had unprotected sex with a new or random partner
• your partner has been diagnosed with an STD
• you suspect you have an STD or you have symptoms that may indicate an STD.

It is important to consider the “window” period when getting tested. You should get tested at least 7 days after possible exposure. If symptoms (pain, itching, genital discharge, rash, skin changes) appear, seek medical advice.

Price list for paid laboratory tests:

To obtain reliable test results, patients should not have washed or passed urine for 3 hours before the sample is to be collected and women should not be menstruating.
